- Manufacturing capacity 50,000 tonnes per annum
- Submerged-arc, wholly automatic welding
- CE Marked Steelwork
FABSEC® has a licensed manufacturing capacity in excess of 50,000 tonnes per annum. The two fabricators are Severfield and Cellbeam Ltd, a subsidiary of William Hare Ltd. Through these modern, low-cost manufacturing plants Fabsec offers not only stringent quality assurance and customer focus but also an innovative product range.
Through significant and strategic investments FABSEC® beams are manufactured using the UK’s most modern beam welding capacity. The plate feedstock goes through web and flange profiling equipment during which the cells are cut and formed.
The webs and flanges are shot-blasted and then joined using submerged-arc, wholly automatic welding. Fire protection can be applied as an optional final process in factory controlled conditions.
FABSEC’S production capabilities permit the manufacture of a wide variety of section sizes, spans and configuration. Incremental plate thickness ranging from 8mm – 100mm can be accommodated. The Manufacture process utilises highly efficient CNC machines which boast rapid production speed – the welding time for a typical web to flange weld exceeds 1 metre per minute. Unlike some alternatives, manual welding is only ever required for unusually shaped beams and for fittings – the main ‘carcass’ of the beam is machine welded to a very high level of quality.
Severfield has four manufacturing facilities namely, Lostock, Dalton, Sherburn and Ballinamallard. All of these sites produce CE marked steelwork and have been independently assessed to meet the requirements of Execution Class 4.
William Hare was the first UK-based steel fabricator to achieve a certified Factory Production Control (FPC) system in line with European CE Marking.
Our clients can be assured that their steelwork will be compliant with the latest Europe-wide legislation and is manufactured to a level of quality that is second to none.
