FBEAM® is easy to use and constantly under development to introduce new technology giving major time and cost savings for designers and developers of steel framed buildings. FBEAM® can design composite and non-composite plain and cellular beams, steel designers can design FABSEC® beams at ambient temperature conditions,  they can be symmetrical and asymmetric with a wide combination in almost any arrangement and are simple to design. FBEAM® can handle complex loading arrangements and a variety of different floor types in helping achieve project economy, swifter construction and optimised design.
FIREBEAM® incorporates the fire engineering module which is a state of the art technology solution fusing the latest optimisation and coating technology to provide the UK’s only integrated solution for optimised fire-engineered beam designs. This software now offers our fire engineers the ability to design their FIREBEAM® with the additional benefit of using the latest intumescent coatings.  The holistic approach within FIREBEAM® looks at the structural section size AND the intumescent coating thickness in conjunction with one another, to determine the most cost effective/optimum combination.  By increasing the mass of steel, consequently using less intumescent paint can often be overall a more economical solution. Cellular Beam Optimisation

Optimisation is proving a popular development in the area of time/cost saving techniques and FABSEC® is recognised as leading this field with the launch of our patented BEAM WIZARD® (the optimisation tool within FBEAM®).  Other software developers are now following suit with their own automated functions.
An optimizer enables a total change in the techniques used to design a beam.  Originally the user had to enter an initial design for a beam and then analyse it to see how far over or under designed it was.  The process involved the assessment of a couple of dozen unity factors which were all affected by changes to the beam design in different ways.  The user then had to iterate by changing the beam parameters and re-analysing until a satisfactory design was achieved.
Optimisation revolutionises the design process.  The user begins with a design that has the required web openings and floor type and starts the optimizer.  The process works whether the initial beam is over or under utilised and automatically changes the beam parameters until the optimum design is obtained.  At the end of the process, the user can see the change to the design and consequential, a significant saving in both beam mass and cost.
This ability to compare many variables at the push of a button also allows the engineer to account for constraints or requirements of others in the design process.  An architect might request a maximum depth of beam or particular service openings may be stipulated.  In any event, the software enables comparison of the alternatives to highlight the impact of changes upon project costs.
The software incorporates a highly efficient Beam Wizard® optimizer, enabling designers to optimize a single beam to a whole floor or building with the click of a button. Lengthy, time-consuming designs can be completed in minutes usually saving significant mass and cost.

Accreditation

Fabsec undertakes a rigorous programme of testing and assessment to ensure that the FBEAM® software is in compliance with relevant design codes and best practice.
For the FBEAM® software, Fabsec seeks to gain assessments from different organisations.  These are given by different industry bodies worldwide and cover different regions and design codes.
Eurocode
FBEAM® has gained the SCI assessed mark for the Eurocode module.  This assessment is for the U.K. National annexe and is recognised in the UK and Ireland.
BS5950
FBEAM® has gained the SCI assessed mark for the BS5950 module.
Fire Design
FIREBEAM® has gained the SCI assessed mark for the Fire Engineering Module.  In addition, paint data held within the FBEAM® is assessed at UKAS accredited test sites.
AISC
